CDW Sucks Customer Reviews and Feedback
CDW Corporation, headquartered in Lincolnshire, Illinois, is a provider of technology products and services for business, government and education. The company has a secondary division known as CDW-G, devoted solely to United States governmental entities, such as K-12 schools, universities, non-profit healthcare organizations, State & Local and the Federal government.
CDW sucks so bad. About a 95% of customers have a bad experience with this ridiculous company. In the most recent review an irate customer had this to say, "I ordered a gaming laptop about a month ago, after paying for 2 day delievery they emailed me way after to notify me that the product I ordered was back- ordered, so after waiting a month or so I decided to cancel my order. I waited two weeks for my payment to go back on my account and it never did so I called the customer service line. They told me they don't take the money out of my account until my item ships? What? They took the money out immediately after I made the purchase! Now the initial payment isn't even showing on my account and nobody will help me. So this website just stole $240 dollars from me!"

Computer Technician (Current Employee) says"It does not matter your skillset for this company. To move up on this company you will need certain certifications that you never practice using. All you need is to learn to read.Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback on your experience. Consultant (Former Employee) says"Not a company that invests in its workers. Poor management. Does not promote the well being of its employees. This company treats contractors like an expendable resource."
Team Leader - CWS Operations (Former Employee) says"Backstabbing happens regular. Salary is low for what is expected. Lean teams and too much work. Burn out is expected for all staff. People are treated differently and there is no consistency in dealing with issues. No flexibility when travelling to other offices"
Employee (Former Employee) says"I would rate a 0 if I could, an awful company that is not anywhere would want to work, also being a multi-million dollar company pays there employees awfully."
Anonymous (Former Employee) says"Dodgy, miserable and backwards place. Incompetent management. High turnover. Don't choose this place, you will regret it. Most of the Management have a passive aggressive behaviour.Free coffeeLong shifts, incompetent management, bad mouth workers"
Corporate Account Manager (Former Employee) says"The company does not care at all about the success of its sales people. Opportunities for professional growth are limited. Accounts and territories are consistently reduced and or taken by fellow employees who are supposed to be 'team members'. The organization is setup in such a way that sales people often feel more competition from their fellow co-workers than from actual competitors. If you are looking for a role in sale I recommend looking elsewhere. My direct bossEverything else about the organization"
ICAN Research Specialist (Former Employee) says"A typical day at work consisted of ,starting working as soon as you get to your desk. Then work continuously until the end of your shift. Workplace culture is laid back and very clickish. Hardest part of the job was working for supervisor/management that didn't appreciate my hard work, dedication, and did not respect personal boundaries. The most enjoyable part of the job was the little perks and rewards earned. You can earn rewardsNot Being appreciated for the hard work, dedication, and not respecting personal boundaries."
Account Representative (Current Employee) says"Management should be ashamed of themselves. They are abusive and do not care about you at all. You are a number to them and the job is hard on its own without having to deal with them talk at you, cut your pay, make it harder to keep a job, and enable (and encourage) people to have drinking problems, eating disorders, gambling problems, drug problems, etc. Never work here unless you have no choice.Easy to land a job hereThe job is horrible"
Business Development Specialist (Former Employee) says"You won’t make money and even if you’re successful they will cap your earnings. They have a cult-like culture and the partner-funded teams are often unqualified to do their jobs.Free LunchCDW Leadership"
Configuration Technician (Former Employee) says"CDW is claiming to be in fortune 500 companies but their management and work culture is worst like a third world country. I worked in warehouse 3 technical lab where the work wasn't technical at all. During my daily work day I was unboxing and boxing laptops and PCs with some automatic imaging by connecting VLAN cable. It was kind of labor job while standing on my feet for 8 hours. I was hired as a contractor for six months but got laid off after 6 weeks with the reason of low work load. And the most stupid part was, they hired my friend on the same day i got laid off. So it proved that either CDW managers are liers or they got no guts to tell truth. There are no breaks at all. You get 45 minutes of unpaid lunch only. There is nothing to learn at CDW. There is no IT work involved in configuration technician position. Company has no ethics or diverse culture. There is lot of favoritism and unfairness in the company as they required candidates to have A+ or Net+ certs but their supervisors got no certs. Don't waste your time in applying at CDW as they are loosing their contracts from clients and there is no way that you will get hired from contractor until next 3-4 years. And yeah as a contractor, you won't get any benefits at all.Well reputed nameHalf a mile away rest rooms, favoritism, no breaks, no cell phone allowed, lazy supervisors, no growth"
Account Manager (Former Employee) says"They have a high employee Turnover for several reasons. Do your research, and talk to people working there. Wouldn't go back even if they paid me twice as much!"
ACCOUNT MANAGER (Former Employee) says"I was a salesman at CDW for roughly a year. It was absolutely TERRIBLE! Management does nothing but stress you out every second about making your numbers. It is a high stress, low paying gig. I hear that employees in other departments enjoy this company, but sales is a MESS!Fun environment, benefitsPay was bad, high stress levels, terrible management!!!"
Project Configuration Technician (Former Employee) says"Terribly dirty, dusty and stinky place. Low skills and intelligence level employees. Poorest management ever. Career opportunities for chosen ones only. The orders for government, schools and hospitals are taken care of by people with no skills and zero knowledge. No anyEverything"
Corporate Account Manager (Former Employee) says"Literally looking through phone books for clients. Sales to Medium/Large clients with over 100 end users. This was very difficult to find clients when there were already 30 people prospecting on my team for the same area.nonethey talk of a big income only to never make the matrix for bonus"
Cash Application Specialist (Current Employee) says"Work as a temp and I've been there 3yrs with no hope of being taken on board. Was told that the company can't afford to hire right now. What a load of garbage? They work you hard.I have a jobLong hours demanding temps to work overtime when full time workers should be doing that."
Technical Temp Computer Technician (Former Employee) says"CDW is a great place to get experience but they'll quickly take advantage of you and make you work 12-14 hour days. They hire temps to permanent positions, but rarely do they make them permanent. I'll say there's 50%-60% temps working there, they usually say there is a 3 month probation period and promise to hire you permanently. They don't, they just do layoffs so they don't have to hire you permanently and go on to hire other temps. The local management is very deceitful, they seem like nice people but don't be fooled, every few weeks they'll give you free lunches for all the hard work and hours you put in, but then they'll do layoffs, they won't even tell you, they just have the temp agency call you and informed you that your services aren't needed anymore. No explanation, just goodbye that's it your done! I understand there's deadlines to make but when you put in a lot of effort, hours and care you don't layoff those people. The work wasn't that hard, installing HDDs, RAM, expansion cards, imaging systems, and installing OS to the systems. They demand a high volume, which means there's no room for mistakes and training. I didn't have any issues with any of the co workers or management it's just the way they do business.Get experienceBad mangement, No job security and advancement"
Account Manager (Former Employee) says"borderline poverty pay, get in/get experience & get out!!!"
Day, Full time job, service desk analyst (Current Employee) says"the manger treats people with no respect and will just shout at the team for everything. They say after 3 months you will go from agency to permanent after 7 months i am still agency and others have been longer and still agency. They have yet to tell us when anyone will be made permanent"
Service Desk Analyst (Former Employee) says"no development. micro management on the service desk. boring culture. not enjoyable. knowledge learning is poor. management don't have experience. no one on 1st line is technical in the slightest.no prosno one is technical"
Administrative Assistant/Sales Support (Former Employee) says"Sales is all there is, and they will do anything for a sale. They 'merged' with my (decent) company, then changed everything about it that they claimed they admired and wanted."
Worst customer service ever. says"I emailed 4 times to their firstname.lastname@example.org email trying to establish an account and I never got a response. I decided to call and the first rep I received was unbelievable rude. He made it seem like I was impeding on his day. He did not want to answer my questions and was very confrontational in his responses. I got hung up on for asking the difference between two products. I had to call back in and got a different rep. She was \"helpful\" but I have not received an email or an account verification she promised over the phone. They must have too many customers to care about helping someone with a mere $150k order."
Jerm says"Ordered an item and put the apartment number in for shipping. They sent me an email to confirm that everything was correct, apartment number was included. They shipped the item and UPS sends me an email stating my package was set to arrive tomorrow... but there was no apartment number listed for shipment. So now the package is just going to the building as a whole. I sent them an email asking them to correct it. No response, so I called UPS myself. They advised that indeed no apartment number was given, so I corrected it with them. CDW then sent me an email back stating \"ship address has apt #\". Yeah... you guys suck."
Jae Chung says"Stupid reps "
xdrx says"Just go with ANYONE else. Seriously, the worst customer service on earth. I ordered an item in November and got one initial email response but after that I did not hear from them for over 2 months!! I finally said to just cancel my order and they responded immediately, of course. Save yourself the headache and don't use CDW for anything."
Jean says"I placed an order with CDW for a software license that is delivered electronically about 3 weeks ago. After one week, not having heard back, I start sending email and leaving voicemails to the account manager that was assigned to our account. Nobody reached back to me or returned any calls. A few days later I called in, and was told that there was a problem with my order, but that it was not fixed and they would contact their vendor (Autocad) to deliver my order. A week later, still nothing. Account manager still not returning phone calls or answering emails. Another call to the generic customer service. This time I am told that they have not heard from Autocad and will follow up. Another week passes, still nothing. I send more emails. No response from the account manager. The generic customer service responds that the SKU is discontinued and they are trying to locate a replacement SKU (mind you, this is after 3 weeks). When asking for an escalation or a manager who cares about the customer's experience, I am told there is nothing that can be done. So if you want to receive your product, just stick with Amazon or Newegg."
Anony USA says"Nothing wrong with the product until it failed 3 days after purchase. The router was shipped and it looked like it was either used or a test box. We didn't care because it was cheaper than everywhere else. After 3 days it stopped working and wouldn't even turn on.
We called them for either a trade or credit, they wouldn't take either.
The small print said, no returns on discount items, almost feels like a scam website. Will never buy from here again"
Guillaume Richer says"I order a camera that was shown as "on stock". After charging me they send me a confirmation for review with a 10-12 week delay notice. No way to join them by mail, live chat or phone. No answer by email and you got put on hold for hours on the chat and phone (I mean calling in the morning and still on hold late afternoon), so long that you need to hang up at some point. STAY AWAY FRON CDW !"
Tyler Chad says"I inquired about pricing for a computer and one of the reps said that the starting price was $500 more than what they currently listed. This shows a lack of research into their own inventory or the possibility of price gouging."
François Valentine says"just a scam companies. they charge you more than your invoice. things come in late. and they don't provide propper support"
stephen weiss says"The worst customer service in the world! They blame their distributor.
Purchased a laptop...not delivered in 4 weeks. Canceled order...they asked ME to send a note to Manufacture. Still arrived...we refused the order...it's now been 12 weeks and NO REFUND...THEY BLAME THE DISTRIBUTOR...D and H!!! Poor business policy!"
Corey Rodrigue says"We have had to cancel multiple orders due to ordering parts that were "in stock" just to find out they were being drop shipped in a month. Contacted customer support closer to the arrival date and they had been delayed further. They simply do not even bother to pretend to care. Terrible place to order from."
Jason Buckley says"I've order a lot of TV's for our Company over the years from this site. They apparently do not care if you receive broken equipment. I was told an RMA would be sent to me and it never came. I reached back out to Support and they did respond to my email (two emails). Today I ordered 4 more TV's that were suppose to be delivered yesterday and I am being told they have not shipped yet because they need to give me a freight quote...??? I paid over $200 for shipping AND nothing was mentioned about a Freight Quote. Sadly I had to call them to find all of this out and they gave me an email address of someone to reach out to for a freight quote. DO NOT BUY FROM THIS COMPANY. Try Newegg, Tiger Direct or even Amazon."
Jafrost Tobourne says"I've wasted so much time dealing with CDW, so I'm just going to quickly summarize...
- CDW just passes customers with a problem from one department to another but no one knows how to actually resolve the problem or tries to resolve the problem
- CDW can't seem to figure out how to update an expired credit card and charge the correct payment method (still hasn't been resolved after a year)
- CDW makes repeated order and billing mistakes but worse shows no effort to correct their mistakes
- CDW is unresponsive and apathetic
- CDW makes no effort to retain business and keep relationships they already have
CDW needs new strong leadership to turn this ship around. We're not talking about a handful of employees. The incompetence and indifference appears to be pervasive throughout the entire company."
David Leifer says"CDW is hands down the worst provider in the industry. As an IT Director, I've had to deal with them multiple times and each experience is a disaster."
David Sojda says"I won't bother writing about the incident I had as most of what I experienced has already been voiced by others. Synopsis:
Website not up to date
I was lied to by Customer Service
Received condescending psycho babble emails from Customer Relations
Cancelled the order
How does this company stay in business?"
Renat Z. says"I tried purchasing a piece of software from their website, got the purchase confirmation email, no download link provided. I emailed them, no response. Called them up, the rep said the order was canceled, I kindly asked to resolve the issue got transferred another rep who arrogantly responded with the word 'Yes?". He said, "Our website is not smart enough to discern how many licenses customer is buying, we are not Amazon". I said, this is 2019 my friends, he goes, "We make 70 billion in sales my friend, people call us on the phone to order software". I said cancel my order, I don't want anything to do with your company. I say, THEY DON'T GET IT if they treat customers like that in 2019. CDW - PEOPLE WHO DON'T GET IT!"
Ryan Bartlett says"On 11/28/2017 we ordered licensing for a 3 year product. After a little over a year (Approx January 2019) the licensing stopped working. I have been asking for a refund or a fix to our problem since March 2019. They have continued to procrastinate the issue and have resulted to just flat out ignoring it. Not only has this cost us $3,942.72 we are losing money and productivity by not having access to these licenses, and further we have to pay other IT people to try and resolve this issue. It is an embarrassment how horribly they have handled this situation. Never do business with this company, unless you want to waste a god awful amount of time speaking to their useless team."
Carol Tittman says"PURCHASED 2 ALL IN ONE PRINTERS FROM CDW. FIRST ONE RETURNED WITHIN CDW RETURN POLICY, ACTUALLY SALESMAN TERRIBLE, NO FOLLOW UP COULD NEVER REACH HIM FOR ANSWERS TO QUESTIONS. THESE WERE SAMSUNG PRINTERS, HP BOUGHT SAMSUNG (USA, WORLDWIDE, DO NOT KNOW). KNOWING THIS I GAVE THIS TRANSITION SOME TIME TO WORKOUT THE SNAGS, HOWEVER WHEN ATTEMPTING TO GET TECH HELP THE ETERNAL YANK, HP THEN SAMSUNG ( this was not a tennis match with the Williams sisters or John McEnroe) SAMSUNG THEN HP. WITH THE SECOND PURCHASE, THE SALESMAN APPEARED TO BE MORE PROFESSIONAL, WHEN I SAY MORE PROFESSIONAL, I MEAN THIS SALESMAN WAS A MORE PROFESSIONAL SCAMMER. I THOUGHT I WAS PURCHASING A NEW SAMSUNG, ACTUAL UPGRADE, FROM THIS SCAMMER SALESMAN. IT TURNED OUT THE PRINTER WAS USED AND HAD MANY ISSUES WHEN I ATTEMPTED TO USE IT. I CONTACTED THIS SCAMMER SALESMAN, HE SAID JUST KEEP THE PRINTER AND HE WOULD ISSUE A REFUND FOR THE AMOUNT I PAID. II DID GET THE REFUND. WORD OF CAUTION , DO NOT TRUST SALESMAN OR SALESWOMEN, THEY WOULD SELL THEIR OWN MOTHERS. THE MORE EXPERIENCED, OLDER ONES ARE THE MORE PROFESSIONAL SCAMMERS, BLINDSIDING THE CUSTOMERS. FORTUNATELY THERE ARE MANY, MANY AGENCIES, COMPLAINT BUREAUS WE CUSTOMERS HAVE ACCESS TO, AND EVENTUALLY THESE SCAMMERS WILL GET CAUGHT, MAYBE EVEN INCARCERATED. A WORD OF CAUTION, IF YOU ARE SMART DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH CDW."
Lawrence says"Awful experience. They need to learn from firms like Amazon how to create a better user experience for online ordering. Here are some of the issues I faced:
a) They don't accept card billing addresses from outside the US.
b) They processed a card payment from my card, and then refused to deliver the goods.
c) They insist on having an account manager to process all orders. But mine was in meetings all day and was too busy to deal with our order. Why don't they just process the order automatically?
d) Impossible to track order as their system keeps rejecting my zip code. I know my zip code better than they do."
Nathan Smith says"I have made 2 purchases with CDW over the years and both times it has been a nightmare. It takes weeks, I repeat, weeks, to get your order.
The problem is that every web order must be approved by an account manager. If a account manager doesn't get to your order, it will just sit there for weeks in a holding queue.
No emails or no type of notifications are sent to you. I purchase a printer from them for business needs. I'm in a time crunch. Order placed on nov 2nd, it's now the 15th and the order still hasn't shipped yet. Call them. The reason why they are holding? They don't ship to a UPS box.
I gave them a new address and I was told I have to call back 45 minutes later to find out if my order cleared or not. This 2018. CDW is behind the times. If I was to continue ordering from CDW I would have to hire a project manager on my staff just to make follow up on CDW orders.
Ridiculous. I will never purchase from CDW for the rest of my life. I will tell all my friends and business aquaintances to avoid this company as if their life depended on it.
Back in July, we also purchased MacBooks, keyboards, docking stations, etc for work. It took 1 month for the MacBooks to arrive. The docking stations arrived in October."
Ty says"They are not dependable to complete an order. I ordered a couple of Havis parts and received my order confirmation email. I then got a call a day later saying there was a problem with my card, HOWEVER I could see that my card had in fact been charged. They promised me to have the issue resolved and then call or email me by the end of the day. A couple of days pass and I don't hear from them. So I call them back, they apologize that nothing had been done and again promise to have it fixed by the end of the day and call or send me an email confirming that the problem was fixed. TWO DAYS Later I call back, after hearing nothing from them. They transfer me to the sales team who tells me that my order is too confusing because I'm having it shipped to a different place then my billing address. I tell them to go ahead and ship it to my billing address, HOWEVER they are now out of stock of the items I ordered a week ago and it will take over a month to get them! This is a business full of empty promises. Look somewhere else for the parts you need."
CH says"Ordered an item from CDW.com for a client - it was software licensing, so we needed somewhere trustworthy and got CDW's name from our US branch. Placed the order, and then sent them an email stating that we're overseas and therefore were paying with an overseas credit card.
Heard absolutely nothing for about a week, when I got an incredibly rude email from "Jon Gorter" who's title is "National Sales Contact Center, Account Manager" and all it said was "Please contact me to tell me what you are trying to accomplish with this order. The pricing is way off."
OK - great. It's not my responsibility to set your pricing for you? If it's wrong, tell me what the price is and we'll pay for it. The incredible rudeness will ensure we never purchase from CDW again, and we've spoken to our US branch about removing CDW as a supplier as well."
Carol Tittman says"Purchased a printer from CDW, process went adequately, received printer, kept it for as long as I could, doing a test and then returning it within the time frame CDW allotted. Received my credit card credit notification from my bank where the purchased was initiated. Now trying to obtain my papers from CDW correlated to this purchase, nearly impossible. Many attempts, emails, phone calls to the salesman at CDW, never replies, signifying to me not a good place to do business. Perhaps by the close of 2018 with perseverance, I WILL obtain the return papers from CDW that legally belong to me, the CUSTOMER. CUSTOMERS, REPORT, REPORT, REPORT. On the other hand, I did upgrade to a more expensive, better suited for me printer, and dealt with a man, much more professional than the previous one, whereby I was now receiving very official paperwork for that purchase. Processes worked well, received printer, set it up, again, on a TRIAL period. Still, after calling, emails, now this man is unable to be reached. This CDW SUCKS like all businesses we customers do business with, be it a printer, car, boat, house. When trying to reach these salespeople, now, on vacation, call back next week or leave a message, their voice mailboxes are FULL!! DON’T YOU LOVE IT!!"
Tony says"CDW does not accept returns on graphics cards. Crappy policy for a crap company. terrible customer service."
